Azariah Tan plays Chopin: A State of Wonder
Even with 15% of his hearing left, it is not stopping Dr. Azariah Tan from playing the music he hears in his mind.
Without a doubt, Dr. Tan is one of the most gifted and accomplished pianist in Singapore. Despite a diagnosis of bilateral sensorineural hearing loss at a tender age of 4, it never once stopped him from going on to be one of the best pianist Singapore will see.
At a young age of 25, he has already achieved a Doctor in Musical Arts Degree in Piano Performance at the Rackham Graduate School, the University of Michigan after graduating from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music with First-Class Honors. The combination of his genius and talent brings out the beauty and symmetry in Chopin’s music, captivating the listener and holding them in “A State of Wonder”, as the CD’s title aptly suggests. This debut CD, Azariah Tan Plays Chopin will be launched in July 2018 and has earned a rating of 4.5/5 star from a Straits Times reviewer who also reported Dr. Tan as being the first Singaporean to record an all Chopin’s piano music on a CD.
